Since its inception, CSTP has produced measurably significant outcomes:
Leadership skills framework for teacher leaders
- Since 2004, CSTP has engaged in more than two dozen collaborative projects associated with teacher preparation, certification, development, leadership, compensation and career structure.
Professional development models that support teachers’ voices in the policy arena: writing for publication; media training; advocacy skills
- Since the inception of CSTP, CSTP leaders have made more than 60 presentations at a wide range of regional, state and national meetings and conferences for educators, capitalizing on opportunities to distribute new knowledge into the education system.
Nationally recognized program for National Board Certified Teachers (in partnership with OSPI and WEA)
- Almost five percent of Washington's teaching force has earned National Board Certification, requiring a yearlong rigorous assessment of classroom teaching. Since 2004, CSTP has offered 125 events and activities designed to build the leadership skills of these National Board Certified Teachers.
Grants to teachers to enhance collegial professional development that leads to improved student learning
- Since 2004, CSTP leadership grants supported 330 teacher leaders in 14,680 hours of school-centered professional development, representing approximately 45 hours per teacher. CSTP funds from the Stuart Foundation and Washington Mutual funded 55 percent of those hours; teachers themselves contributed the other 45 percent of their own time to the work.

"There are disparate and sometimes overlapping institutions and groups with interests in teacher quality. It takes an active leading agent to assemble and galvanize resources to create an improvement infrastructure for the teaching profession where none exists. CSTP plays that role in Washington."
