Congratulations to the 1272 new National Board Certified Teachers in Washington for 2010! This number bumps our state's total number of NBCTs to 5247!
In 2010 Washington ranks second in the nation for teachers achieving board certification this year (behind North Carolina) and has moved up one in the rankings to fourth in overall numbers of NBCTs from last year. Some other impressive stats:
- About 30% of new 2010 NBCTs work in challenging schools.
- 38 counties (out of 39) have at least one teacher with National Board certification.
- 7 districts have their first NBCTs this year.
- 3 districts ranked in the top 20 nationally in new NBCTs - Seattle - 6th with 71 newly certified, Evergreen - 14th with 56 newly certified and Bellevue - 20th with 49 newly certified.
