Legislature Keeps NBCT Bonuses Intact

Hot off the press and good news for NBCTs! The Legislature finally passed a supplemental operating budget that keeps intact the bonuses for NBCTs - a base bonus of $5,000 and challenging schools bonus of $5,000! This is a big deal given the state's $2.8 billion shortfall. Unfortunately, the conditional loan scholarship and the bonus for principals who are NBCTs did not make it through the budget process.

Thank you to NBCTs who communicated with legislators and the Governor during the session. Your emails, letters, phone messages, face-to-face meetings and committee testifying worked- the legislature got your message! This is a great example of how teachers, like those of you who took time to contact legislators, can influence policymakers and make a BIG difference.

Although this calls for celebration, it is important to take pause and thank many legislators and the Governor for their continued support and recognition of NBCTs and the hard work you do with students.

Please take some time and let them know - send a brief email of your thanks and appreciation and don't forget to share with them how National Board impacts student success.
