The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Mathematics Assessment office is holding two item writing workshops. One is for Grades 3-8, scheduled for February 8-10, 2011, and another workshop is for End-of-Course Exams, scheduled March 1-3, 2011. Interested teachers must apply. Applications can be accessed here and are due to OSPI by 5 p.m., December 17, 2010.
Workshop participants will acquire a deeper understanding of the item writing processand how to connect the standards to learning targets for students. One benefitof participating in item writing is the opportunity for teachers to transfer new knowledge and skills about the state's assessments to the classroom practice.
Participants will receive substitute reimbursement, or a stipend, and clock hours. Details about reimbursement for travel, meals, and lodging expenses are explained on the website.
