Guilty Beyond a Reasonable Doubt: The Critical Role of Collegial Dialogue

 

Educator and author, David Funk (2002), asks a question critical for all teachers to answer:

"I often ask, ‘If you were ever accused of being a good teacher, would there be enough evidence to convict you?' My continuing hope is that I stand in the ranks of the guilty." (page 91)

All educators would want to be found guilty of being effective. But what kind of evidence would one gather? Of course, assessing and evaluating student conversations, processes and products would be important.  We know that evidence of student learning leads us to judge the effectiveness of teaching.  Learn more>>
