New Teacher Alliance Case Studies: Standards in Action

logo_white.gif

With support from the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession formed the New Teacher Alliance in 2006. In collaboration with Washington State's Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, seven school districts and two educational service districts committed to improve their practice in five areas of teacher induction: hiring, orientation, mentoring, professional development and assessment of teacher learning.

The following publications, based on findings by CSTP and Inverness Research, are reports that capture new policies and practices in the districts.

[Revised 2008]

With funding from the Paul G Allen Family Foundation, CSTP worked with educators across the state to develop standards that can be used to improve each of the five components of a teacher induction program: hiring, orientation, mentoring, professional learning and assessment for teacher growth.
