Teacher Leadership

Teacher leaders can contribute powerfully to state and local discussions on high-quality teaching in Washington. When they have the skills and knowledge necessary to communicate with policymakers and the conviction that such actions can lead to improvements in student learning, their impact will increase exponentially.

To amplify the voice of teachers in shaping local and state policies, CSTP develops teachers' skills in speaking and writing, identifies opportunities for experienced teachers to participate in policy discussions and supports a network of accomplished teachers interested in expanding their capacity for leadership.

Armed with information, a sophisticated understanding of the system and opportunities to convene, articulate teacher leaders with appropriate access can influence changes in thinking and direction among their colleagues, policymakers and the general public.

CSTP offers frequent professional development and leadership opportunities for accomplished teachers in Washington. Stay up to date on the latest by checking our Events page.
