Teacher Leader U offers courses for K-12 educators to develop their knowledge and skills, while offering practicing or retired teacher leaders the opportunity to share their skills and experiences as instructors. Teacher Leader U is for teachers, led by teachers and designed to meet the learning needs of professional educators in Washington State.

Writing Prompts: The Descriptive, Analytical and Reflective Response
Writing is an essential tool for ProTeach or National Board Certification candidates to communicate they have the required competencies. Participants will learn how to respond to writing prompts and practice the descriptive, analytical, and reflective writing necessary for the ProTeach or National Board portfolio. Courses are designed to supplement certification support programs, not replace them.

Taking Charge: Your Professional Growth Plan Pro Teach Entry 1
Developing a focused, intentional and meaningful plan for professional growth is key to honing the teaching craft. This course will assist teachers in identifying specific areas of focus through a self-assessment process based on student needs. Participants will create a plan that targets those specific areas, establishes clear professional learning goals, specifies opportunities, and includes a timeline for meeting goals.

Helping Students Communicate Their Learning ProTeach Entry 3

Assessing Assessments ProTeach Entry 3
This interactive and collaborative course will unpack the concept of assessment and clarify its diverse applications in the classroom. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect upon the classroom assessment tools they currently use with success as well as review other types of assessments including formative, summative, and progress monitoring. A variety of collaborative instructional structures will be modeled in order to provide for an energizing shared learning experience.

Culturally Responsive Teaching ProTeach Entry 2 and 3
American communities, and consequently schools, continue to become more diverse. Participants will examine the diversity of cultures in their classrooms and communities and respond with effective strategies to affirm, validate, and engage all students. Participants will explore culturally responsive teaching and issues of personal identity, alienation, peer pressure, and cultural identity through interaction and discussion. Educators will complete the seminar with practical strategies to implement immediately.
